Located just 10 minutes from the spa town of Hot Springs, NC Bear River Lodge is surrounded by the Pisgah National Forest. Hot Springs is the first town going North on the Appalachian Trail where the Trail actually goes through the middle of town.
In fact, if you cross the main street you can brag you just hiked the entire width of the Trail. Bear River is also in the heart of Madison County, one of the outdoor meccas in Western North Carolina, where there are four rafting outfitters for adventure along the French Broad River, ziplining, and hikes including the very popular Laurel River Trail just a mile from our gates. Add in mountain biking in Mars Hill, gallery hopping in Marshall, great restaurants and micro-breweries, and plenty of old-time Bluegrass music it’s a combination that is hard to beat.

Couple all that with being only 40 minutes away from Asheville with all it has to offer, in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Microbreweries, art galleries, Asheville is a foody paradise surrounded by natural beauty.
